LGBT Dilemma In North Carolina

North Carolina recently has established a new law stating that all individuals must use the bathroom according to the gender they were classified by when they were born. Many are baffled by this new law while others celebrate because they don’t understand the LGBT community. Many have already began to protest against the law in North Carolina. In March,  a group out of Asheville, North Carolina came together to try to challenge the law and staged a protest downtown. Major companies have threatened to pull out of North Carolina. Facebook has threatened to pull out of North Carolina along with Google, PayPal, and Bank of America. President Obama has finally voiced his opinion on the matter.

“I also think the laws that have been passed there are wrong and should be overturned,” Obama said. President Barack Obama called Friday for the overturning of a North Carolina law that requires transgender people to use public bathrooms conforming to the sex on their birth certificates and restricts protections for LGBT people.

“Although I respect their different viewpoints, I think it’s very important for us not to send signals that anybody is treated differently,” Obama said.
